Part of the fun of receiving a monthly subscription box is seeing it in the mailbox. Attention to detail when designing the packaging is important. You want your subscribers to get excited the minute they see the box. There are several ways to accomplish this.

Style

There are several types of containers you can use to ship your monthly subscription box. The style you use depends on the contents you plan to ship each month.

Bubble envelopes. If your contents are small and will not fill an entire box, like a monthly supply of stickers, you can easily use a bubble envelope.

Shipping boxes. Shipping boxes are made of a stiff paperboard that is sturdy enough to mail but does not offer protection against breakage.

Mailer boxes. The sturdiest option available for a subscription box is a mailer box. It is corrugated cardboard and will protect any breakables that you plan to ship from getting damaged.

You can also use packaging design services to create a custom product that nests a decorative shipping box inside a sturdier mailer box. You want your subscription box to arrive safely and to look good doing it.

Color

Color is where you can reinforce your product brand design. If you use a box for your monthly subscription, you can print the inside, the outside, or both sides of your box. Use your brand's colors to reinforce your brand. If everything you do has a bright yellow stripe, your packaging design should incorporate that too.

If your brand's image is simple, you may want to just print the logo on the outside of the box and let the contents speak for themselves. If your brand's image is all about fun, you may want to send a bright pink box every month. The goal is to create an experience with color printing for the recipient that is as enjoyable as the package contents.

Logo

Adding your logo to the box is important. You can use your logo to reinforce your overall product brand design. It should be printed on the box, used as a sticker to seal interior tissue paper or packaging material, and, of course, printed on the business card and any paperwork that you enclose.

Choosing the right size of box may be a simple decision, but selecting the overall design requires the vision of a packaging design services professional. They can help you pull together the design and printing elements to create the perfect box for your subscription service.
